Nestled in the Trikuta Hills of Jammu and Kashmir, Vaishno Devi is a sacred pilgrimage site dedicated to Goddess Vaishnavi, an embodiment of Durga. Millions of devotees undertake the spiritually uplifting 13-kilometer trek from Katra to the holy cave shrine, where the Goddess resides in the form of three natural rock formations (Pindis). The journey is filled with chants of “Jai Mata Di”, scenic mountain views, and divine energy that draws people from all walks of life. Along the way, pilgrims pass key points like Banganga, Charan Paduka, and Ardhkuwari, each holding deep religious significance. With facilities like battery cars, helicopters, and ponies, the yatra is now accessible to people of all ages. Visiting Vaishno Devi is not just a religious ritual, but a soulful experience that fills the heart with devotion, hope, and peace.

Vaishno Devi Bhawan
The Holy Cave of the Divine Mother
Located at an altitude of about 5,200 feet, this sacred cave is the main shrine where the Goddess Vaishnavi resides in the form of three natural rock formations (Pindis). Pilgrims visit here to seek blessings after completing the 13 km trek from Katra.
Banganga River
The Sacred Starting Point of the Yatra
Just 1 km from Katra, Banganga is the first major halt of the pilgrimage. According to legend, Goddess Vaishno Devi created this river with her arrow to quench Lord Hanuman’s thirst. Pilgrims often take a holy dip here before starting their journey.
Ardhkuwari Cave
The Meditation Spot of the Goddess
Located halfway to the Bhawan, Ardhkuwari is a narrow cave where Mata Vaishno Devi is believed to have meditated for nine months. It’s considered a place of immense spiritual power and is a must-visit stop on the yatra.
